Power in the Tongue

"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit" Proverbs 18:21 (NIV).

How do you use this incredible gift from God? Do you use words to bring life or death? Encouragement or discouragement? Let's pay particular attention to the words we speak and use our words to speak life into the people in our little part of the world today.

A careless word may kindle strife;
A cruel word may wreck a life.
A bitter word may hate instill;
A brutal word may smite and kill.
A gracious word may smooth the way;
A joyous word may light the day.
A timely word may lessen stress;
A loving word may heal and bless.

I pray today that we use our words to bless and not curse. We use them to fully show God through them. In today's world where everyone is losing their jobs, losing loved ones, being put down at work, school, home. Sometimes our words that we speak to them may be the only soothing word from God they hear.

Today take the time to use your words to speak with the tenderness and love that God gives us. It is easier to say a mean word or a smart remark. It is so much harder to stop and think how will what I say affect the person(s) I am stating my words to. It takes God to intervene in our daily walk and talk and we need to call on him to be sure that the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in His sight....

If you plan on speaking today speak life not death, edify not destroy and think how what you say will make the person feel. Will it make their day or destroy their way?

I make a promise to speak love, life, power into each person I meet today.

Be Blessed, Be Encouraged and Be a Blessing
